Mesh Tarps

A mesh tarp or shade cloth is a large sheet woven of polypropylene with perforations distributed evenly throughout. Mesh tarps are used widely at homes and industries for multiple purposes. The perforations in a mesh tarp allow air to circulate through the mesh tarp and also reduce the wind resistance of the mesh tarp.
Mesh tarps are classified on the basis of their shade factor, which depends on how closely the fabric is woven. The more tightly the fabric is woven, the higher the shade factor. Shade factor can either be kept low to permit more sunlight and wind to come through or increased to offer more privacy, while maintaining some airflow and sunlight. Although mesh blue tarps let sunlight, rain and some wind through, anything else such as hailstones or debris will stay out. Vinyl coated mesh tarps are also available that are stronger and resistant to rot and mildew.
Mesh tarps are lightweight, very versatile and have a number of uses. They are widely used as sun shades, home fences for privacy and to keep out animals, privacy screens around swimming pools, and as screens in tennis courts or construction environments. They may be used to cover gardens and plant nurseries from hot sun, strong wind and frost. Although they offer low wind resistance and custom made tarps, mesh tarps are not the best choice for use as hurricane tarps, because they let rainwater through whereas a good hurricane tarp would be waterproof.
